FG, ADB to spend over £20m for WASH in Gombe

The Federal Government in collaboration with Africa Development Bank has earmarked the sum of 29.54 million dollars to implement Inclusive Basic Services Delivery and Livelihood Empowerment Integrated Programme in Gombe state the Jewel in the Savannah.
The programme would be funded by the Africa Development Bank, which, would provide 11. 61 million USD while Africa Development Fund would give 9.64 million USD loan to facilitate the implementation of the project.
The programme, which include Water Sanitation and Hygiene WASH, is aimed to recover the loses recorded during the period of insurgency and provide better than what was lost in five States in the north eastern states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe and Taraba.
Speaking during a Sensitization Advocacy and Mobilization Workshop in Gombe Thursday, the National Coordinator Inclusive Basic Services Delivery and Livelihood Empowerment Integrated Programme, Engr. J F Mamza said the programme targeted an estimates of 14 million people out of which about 2.3 million Internally Displaced Persons would be beneficiaries.
Mamza added that the programme would concentrate on food security and improve nutrition, Water Sanitation and Hygiene as well as provision of health care and basic education service, entrepreneurship, Job creation, youths and women empowerment among others.
The Inclusive Basic Services Delivery and Livelihood Empowerment Integrated Programme is under the coordination of the Presidential Committee on North East Initiative PCNI covers four sectors; Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Livelihood Sector, (for women and youths empowerment) Education and Health Sector.
