The Secretary to the State government Adamawa state, Engr. Bashir Ahmad Friday, announced the review of the two weeks lockdown earlier scheduled to commenced at twelve midnight today.
The SSG explained that as the chairman of the Adamawa State COVID-19 Containment Committee, after due consultation with the state governor, who authorised for the commencement of the lockdown, having realised that members of the public particularly the civil servants, some of whom were yet to be paid their salaries, were ill prepared for the commencement of the lockdown hour.
“One of the objectives of the lockdown is to enable the surveillance team within the COVID-19 Containment Committee to carry out the contact tracing properly of the index case that has been identified,” SSG said. Adding that members of the public would need to have enough time to prepare.
Governor Fintiri has agreed to the extension by 24 hours.The commencement of lockdown hour is now at midnight on Saturday 25 April 2020 to end on Saturday at midnight on 9th May 2020.
