ADAMAWA: Yapak’s sparkling palliative on agriculture, verily to the Verites verified – The Periscope

The Periscope reporter

When you do not hear a lawmaker from your constituency tabling a bill and/or contributing to the conversations on peace and security, education, health, entrepreneurship, youth and women empowerment and/or progress and development at the floor of the house, you should have known that you have mandated a flat character amounting to your tragic flaw as a community.

When a lawmaker you have mandated for effective and efficient representation, fails to report back, sees you as nuisance a parasite; develops a seeming narcissistic personality and apartheid against community empowerment as a selfless community development initiative, you should have known that a square peg is manipulated into a round hole.

For the people of Verre constituency, it was never a regret mandating rather repeatedly, Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak, one of the vocal lawmakers in the Adamawa state house of assembly.

Apart from the continuous distribution of food and domestic items among other Covid-19 palliative measures, having realised that his constituents are for the most part farmers, considering also how difficult and generally Covid-19 expensive farm inputs will turn out to be, given the assurance for  improve productivity in agriculture; enhance food security and reduce poverty in Verre Constituency, Yapak, in a statement Friday, shared by his SSA media, distributed farm inputs to the farmers in Verre Constituency.

“The Good People of Verre Constituency have gathered today at the Hon chairman’s guest house in Yola to receive farm inputs. Items donated include: insecticides and pesticides among others.

“The UN-POLAC Peace Ambassador, Yapak who is at the same time the Chairman House Standing Committee on Inter Parliamentary Affairs, Labour and Productivity, noted that the real cause of hunger is the inability of the local farmers to get necessary and required farm inputs.”

It is indeed a commendable intervention beyond politics, where Yapak pointed out that the donated items were not only for the benefit of members of his APC party but for the farmers in Verre Constituency, irrespective of party affiliation.

“I implore the committee in charge of the distribution to share the inputs to Verites, irrespective of party differences,” Yapak said.

Yapak noted that the time of politicking is a year over and/or some years to come, the current is a time to translate manifesto and promises to reality; defining the dividends of democracy, restoring where it is eroded and/or strengthening public confidence in governance.

Yapak’s call on the beneficiaries, is against betraying the agricultural truce; the inputs given for free are not in anyway for sale but for hoped for bumper harvest.

“The Member added that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has crippled our economy, there is the need to give priority to agriculture following the abundant resources in our community.

“The Danburam Verre, also assured the Verites of his unwavering commitment for quality representation and even unsolicited for but worthy dividends of democracy.

“Yapak has solicited for support and cooperation of the people from the four wards, which made up Verre constituency, to be able to render effective and efficient representation,” SSA Media said.

The APC Chairman, Furore Local Government Mr. James Beka, commended the lawmaker for the gesture, which he described as Yapak’s usual, rather sparkling habit beyond the legislature.

“Hon Yapak has been carrying out this seeming mixture of selfless service; representational, philanthropic and diplomatic beyond politics exercise for over four years.

“We commend and encourage him not to relent. We thank God Almighty, for giving us this kind of leader who is always there for his people,” Beka said.

Responding on behalf of the committee in charge of the distribution, the APC Chairman of Mayo-Ine ward, Umaru Jika commended Yapak’s leadership style as being remarkable, especially as it relates to empowering his Constituents.

Jika said they would ensure that only those who are deserved would benefit from the intervention to be able to utilise it in the farms rather than diverting same to the market for sale.
