The Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed a resolution mandating its standing Committee on Judiciary and Justice to liaise with the relevant authorities for reopening of court proceedings in the State.
The House resolution Monday, followed a motion of matters of urgent public importance raised by the member representing Verre constituency, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Yapak, during plenary.
Hon Yapak said following recent attacks by the notorious Shilla the state capital and its environs among other criminal activities, police cells are overstressed as courts remained closed, depriving prosecution
Yapak also observed that the state is degenerating into a state of anarchy with the aggrieved taking law into their hands by means of jungle justice.
Yapak prayed for the House, as a matter of urgency, to order for Immediate resumption of court proceedings for justice to take its course.
The members representing Demsa constituency Mrs Kate Raymond Mamuno and that of Shelleng Abbakar Isa commended Yapak for raising the motion.
After considering the importance of the motion, the Deputy Speaker Pwamwakeno Mackondo of Numan constituency, who presided over the plenary, directed the clerk of the House to communicate the house resolution to relevant authorities for further action.
