Police, security agencies intensify security checks in Adamawa, recover vehicle, tricycle

Security has of recent being challenged in Adamawa state, by criminal elements, more particularly the tricycle Shila cult activities, having to do with snatching of handsets, purse and other valuables from their unsuspecting passengers, especially in the Yola municipal.

The tricycle Shila cult members do sometimes faced jungle justice by being roasted along with their tricycles, coordinated by the aggrieved citizens whose overemotional spirit, in venting their anger, reduced them to taking laws into own hands.

Kidnapping is another disastrous criminality the security agencies in the state have strategized to nip in the bud.

Recall that the commissioner of police in his maiden press briefing, has taken as a challenge, to restore peace, law and order by subduing criminality in the state.

The press release Monday, issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Sulaiman Yahaya Nguroje revealed that part of the security strategies was strengthening of synergy between the police and other security agencies.

Deployment of more security personnel to the Command’s Rapid Respond Squad (RRS) on patrol was another effective strategy, which facilitated the recovery of abandoned vehicle and tricycle by the suspected kidnappers, foiling their activities.

“The Adamawa State Police Command’s Rapid Respond Squad (RRS), while on area patrol on February 5, 2021 along Gwalantabal and Ngurore in Song and Yola South local governments areas, sighted some criminal elements trying to kidnap their target.

“However, while realising the presence of the security operatives, the suspects abandoned their vehicle to escape arrest .

“Abandoned tricycle was also recovered at a criminal hideout along Ngurore.

“The oolice and other security agencies cannot fold it’s hands and watch hoodlums have a field day without taking steps to maintain law and order.

“On that strength, the Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Adamu Alhaji has deployed additional personnel to Operation Faruta and Rapid Response Squard to provide watertight security within Yola metropolis and other parts of the state to stem the tide of criminal activities and restore normalcy.

“To further strengthen strategies, the CP has ordered for the reclaim of the public space and prompt respond to distress calls, particularly during night hours, which is now being used by unscrupulous elements to Kidnappings and other heinous crimes.

“The CP further notes that henceforth, all riders of Keke Napep are to put on their inner lights from 7pm to enable security operatives and members of the public see their passengers

“However, for the avoidance of doubt, the Commissioner of Police has issued clear directives and taken drastic steps on the current turn of events.

“It will therefore be in the interest of those perpetrating these crimes, particularly Shilla activities to desist forthwith or simply leave the state or be ready to face the consequences.

“Finally, the Command is craving the indulgence of the entire people to avail the police and other security agencies with credible information at all times, with a view to making the state crime free.

“The CP is hereby calling on anyone whose vehicle or tricycle was either stolen or snatched to report to the Command’s Rapid Respond Squad with original documents and other documents to claim,” the statement read.
