is with a heavy heartbut total submission to the will of the Almighty Creator that we announce the death of our PIONEER DISTINGUISHED FELLOW of the Institute, Hajiya Rakiya Abdullahi.
Some Members of the Institute may recall that Hajiya Rakiya Abdullahi, a Founding Fellow of IBDFM, was one of the Members of the High Table at the 29th MCPD, Investiture of Fellowship and Induction Ceremony held on 31st October, 2020, at LAGOS HOUSE, Central Business District, Abuja, an event that had Dr. Isa Sagir, also a Founding Fellow of the Institute as the Chairman of the Occasion.
One of her Daughters who accompanied her to the programme in a telephone conversation with the Registrar/Secretary to Council, Sukana D Tusha, some minutes ago (9:53am) confirmed that her mother left Abuja for Lagos and was attacked by unknown gunmen on her way from the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos to her Accommodation in a Cab/Taxi.
She was taken to the hospital but could not make it after three days of receiving medical attention.
She has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
The President and Chairman of Council, Prof. A. A. Aminu has expressed shock and sadness over her demise describing it as a great loss not only to the Institute but the country at large.
The President and Chairman of Council described Hajiya Rakiya Abdullahi as an Amazon who used her gifts, talents, opportunities and resources to positively impact her generation.
Prof. A. A. Aminu finally prayed Almighty Allah to forgive all her shortcomings and reward her good deeds with Aljannatul Firdausi and also comfort her immediate family, especially the husband and Children, the extended family and the IBDFM Family.
Until her death, she was the FCT North Regional Corporate Communications Manager, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
