Certificate Forgery: Modi Drags, Prays The Court To Disqualify Bindow

Adamawa State Governor Mohammed Umar Jibrilla Bindow has been dragged before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, over his eligibility to contest the 2019 governorship election in the state.

In a statement signed by Faesal Nanna the spokesman Dr. Mahmoud Halilu Modi prayed the court to disqualify the governor from contesting the election on the ground that he did not possess the required academic qualification to stand for the election.

Modi told the court that Bindow has not met the minimum requirement of possessing a school certificate for contesting the office of a governor as provided in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This was in addition to other allegations such as submitting falsified documents at different times to INEC and inconsistencies of the Governor’s personal records as glaring in the INEC published documents of candidates. Alleged suppression of records could equally not be ruled out.

“In the matter with suit no: FHC/ABJ/CS/1377/2018 Dr. Mahmood Halilu Ahmed prayed the court to determine whether the governor is qualified to contest the election having failed to complied with the minimum requirement for eligibility to contest for the office of the governor in the state,” a political analyst explained.

Dr. Halilu came second in the All Progressives Congress APC primary elections conducted on October 6, 2018 in the state that was alleged to be marred with irregularities occasioned by disenfranchisement. .
