POLITICS: Adamawa Northern Zone: Declaration of Victory by PDP candidate is a crime – Activist

A jimeta based activist for good governance comrade Barde Adamu condemned the behavior of People’s Democracy Party candidate, Mr Elisha Abbo Cliff who declared himself winner of Saturday’s senatorial election in Northern part of the State via his Facebook page.
Adamu condemned Cliff for contravening the electoral laws.
“Cliff commits a crime contrary to the constitution of the country.
“INEC is the only constitutional body that has the mandate of declaring who wins an election in a given contest,” Adamu said.
Adamu has called on the attention of the authority concerned, to call Cliff to order with a view to voiding the glorification of fake news capable of raising political tension and instigating crisis.
“The young man is just overzealous and overambitious for a senator.
”How can you presume success when you feel you are in control of two out of the five local government areas constituting the senatorial zone, while the reports coming from other quarters suggest that APC is leading in the three LGAs?
“At whatever level, nobody is permitted to declare himself a winner until INEC says so.” Adamu said.
