Adamawa APC rejects guber results; accuses INEC, security of complicity, Calls for probe of entire process

Adamawa State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC), has rejected the outcome of last Saturday’s governorship election held in the state, over alleged massive irregularities, accusing security operatives and INEC of a grand complicity to shortchange the party.

The party, which made the position known at a press conference Monday, addressed by its northeast national vice chairman Comrade Mustapha Salihu, called on INEC to probe the entire election process in all the LGAs affected.

Salihu accused INEC of aiding the electoral heist by not cancelling elections in all the places where massive irregularities were observed, noting that the 44 polling units whose results were cancelled, represented only a small fraction of areas where malpractices were carried out with impunity.

Salihu said the party has through its agents, reported monumental cases of malpractices in Hong, Michika, Song, Lamurde, Guyuk and Demsa, which the electoral body conviniently ignored, enough to go for connivance.

Salihu disclosed that the party has reported high incidences of violence, non usage of card readers, over voting and even killing of an APC agent in Hong local government, which the electoral umpire ignored.

“We want to bring it to the notice of the general public that we reject the entire results of governorship elections held in Adamawa state, our petitions were rejected and is evident that the whole process has been compromised,” he said.

The national vice chairman alleged that even soldiers have aided the electoral heist by taking away the results of four wards in Song local government.

“We are calling for 100 percent probe by INEC and we must bring accountability to the table. We demand full inquiry of the election process,” he said.

The party stalwart who did not mince words in condemning the results, noted that it was not a reflection of the aspirations and wishes of Adamawa electorates, adding that the party would ensure that their choices and preferences were preserved through the judicial process.
