Three investigative Committees: ADHA speaker gives terms of references

The Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly Alhaji Aminu Iya Abbas has announced the terms and references of the three investigative ad-hoc committees constituted by the House during Tuesday plenary session.

The Speaker said the terms of reference of the House adhoc committee on Financial Status of the State, were to examine the statement of account, the inflow and outflow, bailout, Paris Club refund funds and infrastructural bonds, actual debts profile of the state from 2017, 2019 and 2019

Abbas said the committee would also look into the records from the State Ministry of Finance, Accountant General Office, Board of Internal Revenue, Planning and Budget and Dept Management Office.

The Financial Status Ad-hoc Committee of the House under the leadership of Mrs Kate Raymond of Demsa constituency would report back to the House within the time frame of three weeks.

While Committee on State Muslim and Christian Pilgrims Welfare Boards would investigate the activities of the two parastatals from 2017, 2019 and 2019 to find out the number of Pilgrims that paid and the amounts and classification of the accounts for the period under review.

The Committee would also check the contractors handling both Local and International contracts, the offshore and onshore payments for Hajj, Hotel Accommodation, quality, standard, transport and other projects handled by the Boards.

The Committee chaired by the Member representing Song Constituency Mr Simon Isa Has two weeks to submit its report to the House.

Abbas said the House Ad-hoc committee on Salaries, Transfer of Service and Employment of the Adamawa State Civil Service would investigate the number of people employed, the process and criteria, qualification of employees, ministries they were posted, its relevance and the process of accepting transfer of services.

Abbas added that, the committee would also check the date of employment, data capture and date of first salary of each staff.

The committee headed by the majority leader Alhaji Hammantukur Yettisuri has four weeks to submit its report.
