Adamawa: Adamawa to access N8.2b UBE fund, rehabilitate 5,000; Arrests 68 kidnappers, 252 Shilla gangs – Kumangar

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has directed the payment of matching grant to the Universal Basic Education Commission UBE to be able to access N8.2b Basic Education Stimulus.
The Director General Media and Communication Government House, Yola Mr Solomon Kumangar disclosed this Friday, during a press conference held at the Press Gallery Government House in Yola.
Kumangar disclosed that the funds would serve as prequel to declaring free and compulsory education, increase school enrollment and address the overwhelming level of out of school children in the state.
Kumangar added that the Fintiri led government would rehabilitate 5,000 schools in the next six months for the development of education sector in Adamawa.
In the area of security, Kumangar revealed that 68 kidnappers and 252 notorious Shilla gangs were arrested and detained within three days of expiration of the deadline given to the criminals to surrender and get morally integrated into the society they found a vocation to terrorise.
Kumangar disclosed that some of the shilla gangs numbering over a hundred, have voluntarily surrendered for a rehabilitation while the the resisted, yet to be arrested rest a were on the run and that Governor Fintiri had directed security agencies to cast their dragnets wide and fish out the criminals.
Kumangar said Governor Fintiri has placed priority on the health and education
sectors, in addition to approving the establishment of stock shops in the twenty one local government areas to enable farmers access farm inputs without tears.
Kumangar further disclosed that Governor Fintiri has moved to revamp local government councils after eight years of near neglect by granting them full autonomy for grassroots progress and development.
Kumangar stressed that the Fintiri led government has embraced due process; transparency, justice and accountability.
Kumangar argued that within one month in office and in spite of lean resources, governor Fintiri has been able to fine-tune the fortunes of the state.
