Adamawa: Perm Sec abductors insist on negotiating with government demand N25m ransom

Abductors of Mr. Emmanuel Piridimso, the Permanent Secretary, Adamawa State ministry of mineral resources have put forward a demand of N25 million as ransom before his release.

Piridimso was abducted in his residence located at Clek Quarters opposite Anglican church, Jimeta Yola, on Wednesday at about 3:20am.

A family member who preferred anonymity told our reporter that the Permanent Secretary was allowed to speak with the family members, adding the the insisted on negotiating directly with Adamawa government

“The abductors have allowed the Permanent Secretary to speak to us intermittently as they said they would only talk to the government.

“But he told us that they were demanding a whopping sum of N25 million that is why he asked us to sell off his car and any other property that could fetch the money. He also extend an appeal to friends and well-wishers to help regain his freedom.

“We tried to collect his vehicle which the abductors took away along with him but dumped at Jambutu and later taken to the police headquarters.

“But the police refused to release the vehicle saying that they would conduct some investigations on it as such we could not take it away,” he said.

The Police Public Relation Officer, Adamawa State Sulaiman Nguroje said the state command was on the trail of the assailants and putting concerted measures to rescue the Permanent Secretary and effect the arrest of the culprits.
