Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has paid workers with the government for three months without banking on overdraft.

Fintiri has promised to settle all outstanding arrears of workers in addition to implementing the N30, 000 new minimum wage.

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Tuesday, approved immediate implementation of the N30, 000 new national minimum wage to the federal government workers to halt any plan for industrial action.

It was perceived that the state governments were waiting for the federal government to start implementing the new minimum wage before they could follow.

The workers with Adamawa government, having commended governor Fintiri’s promise to pay salaries on the 24th of every month, urge him to join the President and approve immediate implementation of the agreed N30, 000 minimum wage without in the state grieving.

Political analysts and the economists the Periscope interviewed, have not seen the possibility of governor Fintiri implementing the N30, 000 new minimum wage without banking on bank overdraft owing to what they considered as the overwhelming workforce with the state’s lean resources.

“Governor Bindow was unable to implement the earlier N18, 000 minimum wage. Even the N10, 000 promised as benchmark, was not fully implemented. In spite of that, Adamawa government would had to source for bank overdraft to be able to pay salaries.

“Remember that governor Fintiri is yet to set up his cabinet members among other political appointments. How does he work the abracadabra from N10, 000 partial instead of N18, 000, to N30, 000 full implementation of the new minimum wage without drowning in the ocean of bank overdraft?” Babuka Iro asked.
