Nigeria Introduces Meningitis Vaccine for Children Under One

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) Friday announced the introduction of Meningitis A (Men A) vaccine into the nation’s childhood routine immunisation schedule.

The agency made the announcement today its official handle, @NphcdaNG.

It said the administration of the vaccine has commenced today across the country and urged nursing mothers to take the their children who are nine months old and below to the health facility closest to them for vaccination.

The vaccine will ensure that every new born in Nigeria is better protected against Meningitis, an often fatal bacteria infection.

The tweet read: “Oh, happy day! It’s our big launch day. Today, Men A vaccine will be introduced into the Routine Immunization schedule nationwide. Take your nine months old children to the nearest health facility for vaccination
