The Periscope crime scene reporter

Independence Day celebration was never thought would register any mourning as the morning prayer Tuesday was observed peacefully at Lakare; a settlement few kilometers away from Shagari Low-cost Housing unit, Yola South local government area, Adamawa State, Northeast Nigeria.

The afternoon showered a fresh air in the area known for tree growing and peaceful coexistence.

The theme of the conversation on Independence Day in Lakare, was the dividends of democracy in the face of neglect as far as social amenities and security establishment other than the activities of the vigilante group, are concerned in the area.

They would need to have a good tarred road linking the Shagari to the Yola main road. There has been the project, which was started during the Nyako led government but was totally abandoned and the community technically forgotten. Rainy season has been road unfriendly to the area.

There was the sound of gunshots from Lakare area as were heard by the people living in the neighbouring Shagari quarters while evening prayer was being observed.

The Periscope crime scene can reveal that it were the suspected kidnappers who were said to be after the leadership of a Fulani group residing in Lakare.

The resistance of the Fulani leader to be abducted led to his death and three others some of whom died as they were being taken to the Federal Medical Centre FMC Yola. One of the casualties of gunshots is said to be groaning in pains while receiving medical attention in the health facility

Attempts to find out from the PPRO, through a phonecall, whether or not the incident was being reported to Adamawa Police Command failed as at the time of press.
