Kudos: Sen Binani, Profs Tukur, Auwal, Ribadu on an unstoppable mission for a teaching hospital, medical college, others

The Periscope Mood of the Moment

Sen Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed known as Binani, is a politician and elected Senator representing the central zone of Adamawa state, northeast Nigeria.

Prof. Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu former VC FUT now MAUTech Yola, Prof. Abdullahi Liman Tukur present VC MAUTech Yola and Prof. Auwal Muhammad Abubakar MD FMC Yola are purely in academy and tertiary health institution.

These lady and gentlemen, these politicians and professionals, these senator and professors, working as a team, typical of the intellectual and leadership styled Fulani, are not after establishing tribal hegemony, they could not have been supported by the Adamawa state governor, who though not a Fulani, led a delegation of stakeholders; the monarchs, the politicians, men of thought and standing, cut across professions, ethnic and religeous registers, before President Muhammadu Buhari, to present the resolution of the people of Adamawa state, recommending for the upgrading of the Federal Medical Centre FMC Yola to a teaching hospital and reshaping of Modibbo Adama University of Technology MAUTech Yola to a conventional university, with a view to accommodating medical college, and other managerial and humanity related courses.

Even though the worthy, visionary team has received the royal blessings from HRH the Lamido Adamawa; of Modibbo Adama lineage, supported by HRH the Emir of Mubi, the team members could have been snubbed by other tribal monarchs, especially those professing a different religion.

The team members are 24/7/12/360 days working out the talk, finding solution to education and healthcare, the challenge the Adamawa indigenes are constrained of.

The team seems unshakable and unintimidated untill the mission it set out to achieve is accomplished; Upgrading FMC Yola to a teaching hospital and establishing medical college in MAUTech Yola; to get to achieve these, conversion of the technology based to a conventional university is not to be ruled out.

The bottom line is that Adamawa state and the northeast, need more medical doctors, more graduates and postgraduates in different courses and more professionals in different fields and professions.

However, some fantastically classified retrogressive elements, the nonentity minority, in struggling to be significant, arrogating to themselves the perception of the teaming tribesmen, challenged the cause championed by the courageous lady and gentlemen as unpopular, retrogressive and unwelcomed.

The nonentity minority, arrogating to themselves the tribal mouthpiece, whose argument was wished away, as a poet would say, challenged not only the conversion of, but the name of the the technology university that immortalises the leader of faithful; Modibbo Adama, whose name the state equally answers.

What do you expect, the groups were humiliatingly shutdown by the chairman of the Senate committee when Sen. Binani’s bill for the establishment of Modibbo Adama University Yola 2019, attracted “public hearing” on Thursday 5th December 2019 in Senate the Conference Room 231

The nonentity minority were not bothered that “getting the bill through, will mean reopening of the School of Management and Information Technology, mounting of new programmes in Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Humanities and Law,” among other faculties,” they were simply against Modibbo Adama as much as they have fought rather in vain previously, with the hate speech tagging FCE Yola as Fulani College of Education and FMC Yola as Fulani Medical Centre in the pages of newspapers, for which the Scope was an active participant, simply to instigate tribal sentiment in the late 90s and early 2000.

Trust the people of Adamawa. Former Governor Boni Haruna was at the Senate public hearing. The Periscope figured him hauling an exclamatory insult in Hausa language; “Yan bura uba” against the retrogressive elements working on the script to cause dissention.

You could conceive Boni’s anger; the nonentity minority were not in the least, assigned to represent minority tribes at the public hearing as Dr. Idi Hong has articulated.

Hong would say that in the entire Kilba community, Gen. Kama and himself would be categorised as among the five most influential tribesmen. However, a position paper, retrogressive in nature, was smuggled to the public hearing without their consultation for inputs. It was simply voided as sentiment based.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar the Waziri Adamawa, fanatically supported the idea of changing MAUTech to a conventional university. His presence at the public hearing to present a position paper, has surprised many and has sealed many sentiments as much as the presence of his Royal Highness the Lamido Adamawa, ably represented.

The chairman, committee for the review of the law establishing the university, Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu, has earlier submitted report of his finding before the National University Commission prompting the commission to commence the process for the conversion, following a bill proposed by Sen. Aisha Dahiru Ahmed Binani

Ribadu had said that the conversion would enable the university to run programmes offered in other universities, especially medical courses to produce more doctors.

Prof. Abdullahi Liman Tukur the VC has earlier assured that MAUTech Yola has the capacity to run a medical college.

Tukur, has at the public hearing, traced the history from Modibbo Adama affiliated to University of Maiduguri, upgraded to Federal University of Technology and the need to readdress the tertiary institution with its earlier name; Modibbo Adama University of Technology.

Yesterday marked the funeral day of the retrogressive nonentity minority, lacking representational portfolio, with the approval by the Senate, of the convertion of MAUTech to a conventional university, which the Periscope widely publicised.

The Periscope reported in part, thus:

“Sen Binani scores a big goal against minority odds.

“The Senate, in its sitting Wednesday, has approved the conversion of Modibbo Adama University of Technology MAUTech Yola to a conventional university,” The Periscope reported.

Prof. Auwal Muhammad Abubakar the MD FMC Yola, has earlier revealed to the Periscope on the spot reporter that the health facility has since started postgraduate (residency) trainings having scaled through accreditations by the West African College of Surgeons WACS, West African College of Physicians WACP and of recent, the Medical Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria NPMCN

These successes seem unpalatable to George Kushi the press secretary to the deputy governor Adamawa state with the editors of the Scope, state government owned newspaper, who took to institutional attack on the organisation that is led by an achiever whom they conceived should be sabotaged hence the attack on FMC Yola

This is simply, eventually, to be in vain because the same attack was launched by the same Scope editors in 1999 when FMC Yola was established and led by Dr. Aminu Mohammed Mai the pioneer MD.

The scope editors and other conspirators, then with NTA and ATV Yola who hated the name “Mohammed” and the Fulani tribe in Mohammed, tagged the health facility as “Fulani Medical Centre,” simply to generate tribal hate sentiment.

The attack on FMC Yola by George Kushi with his comrades at the Scope, is an intolerable attack on a community, the personality under attack represents.
