What is interesting about the IPPIS issue is that the Vice Chancellors enrolled on the the platform.
The VCs decided to go with the path that allows them to keep their jobs as opposed to the path of solidarity with ASUU.
The fact that they are VCs is the more reason why they should not enrol on the platform if they truly believe that not enrolling is the best deal for the University.
Their non-enrolment will also send a clear message to the government that the fight is a serious one.
I thought if they were serious on ASUU they’ll recognise their membership of ASUU before their positions as VCs.
They even have an association with which they’ll use to be in solidarity with ASUU.
By the way, I was told most of what ASUU is doing as regards the IPPIS stuff is to the benefit of VCs whose ‘autonomy’ ASUU is trying to protect
Majority of every day academic staff on the other hand decided to go with ASUU. And these are the ones who may not last a month or two without their salaries.
It is interesting how we fight in Nigeria.
