FCE Yola Matriculates 2,895 Students

The Federal College of Education, FCE Yola Friday, matriculated 2,895 students for the National Certificate in Education NCE, 2019/2020 academic session.

The college provost, Prof Abdul-Mumin Sa’ad disclosed this during the matriculation ceremony held at the college matriculation ground in Yola, Adamawa state, northeast Nigeria.

 Sa’addescribed the matriculated students as one of the luckiest sets not because they were the largest number to be admitted but because they were joining the college at a time it was achieving breakthrough in terms of facility upgrade, in the face of academic expansion and excellence.

Sa’ad expressed appreciation to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Gida Mustapha, the Federal Government Ecological Fund and Federal Ministry of Works for the reconstruction of major road networks, effective water storm drainages, solar street lights currently illuminating a large part of the campus, thereby beautifying the college and making secure and enabling for effective and efficient teaching and learning.

Sa’ad also thanked the former General Managing Director, Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation for reconstructing the female hostel parameter fence among other interventions.

Sa’ad said that the dream of making the institution one of the best, was translating to reality with the excellent performances of different sets of undergraduate students.

“We are proud to announce to the world that among the 179 second set of degree graduates, eight students have bagged first class degree honours.

“This is just as we recorded one first class student in the first set. This speaks volumes of the quality of students, programmes and teaching staff in this academic community,” Sa’ad said.

The Provost urged the new students to be law abiding, dedicated to their studies while aiming at excellent academic performance by making use of available facilities in the college, such as the electronic library with millions of research materials and electronic books.

In a goodwill message, the Coordinator, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, (TRCN) Mrs. Mary Mshelia tasked the matriculants to strive to be qualified and professional teachers by sitting and passing the TRCN.

Speaking on behalf of the matriculants, Fa’iza Abubakar Modibbo a student of

Biology/Integrated Science Education reiterated students’ determination to be law abiding and worthy ambassadors of the college at all times.

The college Registrar, Fa’iza A. Ahmed, represented by the college Academic Secretary, administered the matriculation oaths on the new students where she called on them to shun all forms of negative behaviours.
