Adamawa state government has commended the patience, perseverance, patriotism, sacrifice and understanding of the citizens of the state in responding to the preventive measures against Coronavirus.

In a press release Monday, issued by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri has on behalf of the Adamawa State Covid-19 Containment Committee, expressed the gratitude to all those who responded by supporting the war against COVID-19 scourge; a battle to flatten the curve.

“Fintiri said the outpouring solidarity and support sparked by this shared challenge has been phenomenal and this informed Government’s intervention through the provision of food items for distribution to the vulnerable across the 21 local government areas of the state.

“The government also considered the critical transport sector especially the Keke-Napep Operators hit by the 14-day lockdown and released the sum of twenty million naira to the association to cushion the impact.

Fintiri appreciated the following philanthropists, group, individual and commercial institution:

* The PDP caucus in the House of Representatives for donating 2.5 million naira,

* Alhaji Musa Garba a businessman and philanthropist for donating 2 million naira in addition to a facility to serve as a containment centre when the need arises.

*:United Bank for Africa (UBA) for pledging a donation of 28.5 Million Naira.

The philanthropic interventions and a corporate social responsibility, Fintiri said, came at a time “the world is facing an unprecedented challenge with communities and economies everywhere affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic.

“Your donations are greatly appreciated in the effort to supporting the ability of Government to respond to Covid-19 scourge, especially where the needs are greatest”.

Fintiri appealed to well-meaning citizens to emulate the good gestures of the donors, assuring that donations received would go towards funding the strategic preparedness and response plan.

Fintiri however appealed to the citizenry to ensure they adhere to basic practices of hand washing, social distancing and proper hygiene.
