While the citizenry is back to hygiene, is maintaining social distancing by staying at home, though their’s is not any near to essential services to be exempted from the restrictions, the kidnappers fail to lockdown their nefarious activities to face the challenge of COVID-19.
Security agencies are charged with the responsibility of not only enforcing the lockdown order, they are also to safeguard lives and properties of the citizens who are made to stay at home as a preventative measure against the COVID-19 scourge.
Following the kidnapping of the NULGE ChairmanAdamawa State last week, among others at the southern Senatorial District of the State, the police apprehended Kidnapper Kingpins over the weekend.
They are alleged to be masterminds of coordinated kidnappings at Mayo-Belwa, Jada, Ganye and Toungo local government areas. They are apprehended along with arms and amulets.
The police apprehended another kidnapper kingpin, who along with other criminals, are alleged to be the masterminds of the coordinated kidnappings in some parts of the Central Senatorial District of Adamawa state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Suleiman Yahya Nguroje, has in a press release, issued on Tuesday, revealed that following the frequent area patrol in Girei and Song local government areas, the Adamawa State Police Command have on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, apprehended a 38-year old kidnapper kingpin who said his name was Alhaji Ashiru Sule; a resident Tambo, in Girei LGA.
“The command equally recovered from the Suspect; one AK-47 rifle with 17 rounds of lives ammunitions.
“Investigation into the matter so far reveals that the said suspect, prior to his arrest, coordinated several criminal activities. He demanded and received ransom from the kidnapped.
“Recently, the suspect coordinated and threatened his elder brother to either liberate himself with the sum of five million naira or face kidnapping.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Audu A Madaki has expressed profound gratitude to the people of Adamawa for their resilience. He urged them to support and cooperate with police at all times. He assured the citigend of police’ commitment to protecting lives and properties,” Nguroje said.
