Residents of Verre Constituency, Fufore local government area of Adamawa state; especially, the elderly and those with populous family have again heaved a sigh of relief with Ambassador Abdullahi Umar Yapak’s philanthropic intervention.

The Ambassador of Peace with the United Nations-POLAC Hon Yapak is a lawmaker, representing Verre Constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly.

Apart from his constitutional and legislative responsibilities, Hon Yapak’s philanthropic activities have jointly marked him out as a servant lawmaker rather than playing the arrogant legislature who visits his constituency only while seeking for votes during campaign.

In a press release issued by Sulei Masirka Hamza, SA Media to the lawmaker, the Danburam Verre and Magajin Koma, Hon Yapak has distributed food items to the people of his constituency to cushion the effect of lockdown occasioned by the Coronavirus pandemic and as his normal tradition during the month of Ramadan.

“Yapak sermonised that “Ramadan is the perfect period for all Muslims to renew and strengthen their faith through rigorous fasting, devout prayer, reflective meditation, reading the Holy Quran, and charitable deeds.

“These acts are closely aligned with the acts of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and universal values that the Islamic faith promotes i.e peace, kindness, love and respect for others.

“The distribution of these items was earlier intended for the beginning of the Ramadan as usual but due to the lockdown order in our state the distribution was rescheduled.

Yapak pleaded with the members of his constituency to be patient as the donated food items were just but tip of the iceberg, where he assured the people of his readiness to do more with the mandate honourably given to him.

“The lawmaker has called on the people to avoid unnecessary movement and stay at home in order to curb the transmission and infection of the novel Coronavirus.

“Yapak advised that if people must go out, they should ensure that they wear face masks, observe physical distancing, maintain personal hygiene and all other preventive measures as directed.

“The Danburam Verre has enjoined Muslims to seize the golden opportunity of the sacred month to pray against Coronavirus pandemic, describing the present situation as a trying time that required the intervention of Almighty Allah SWT, adding that the Muslim Ummah should utilise this period of Ramadan to offer special prayers for Unity, Peace, Progress, Prosperity and for life to return back to normal in Nigeria and the world at large.

“Hon Yapak who is the Chairman House Standing Committee on Inter-Parliamentary Affairs, Labour and Productivity, urged the committee in charge of the distribution to ensure justice and fairness during the sharing of the food items.

“The food items donated include; Bags of rice, Maize, Sugar and Cartons of Spaghetti which are to be shared across all polling units in the four wards that formed Verre Constituency.

“The Committee in charge of distribution, have acknowledged what they termed as Yapak’s philanthropic philosophy. He’s been doing the same during Christmas and other festive seasons; a gesture aimed at assisting the indigent people within his constituency. We pray for more blessings and elevation for him,” Hamza said.
