The Periscope reporter

The Hon. Chairman Maiha local government, Adamawa state, northeast Nigeria, Dr. IDi Ali Amin has presented a budget proposal for the year 2020.

Presenting the budget Tuesday,  tagged “Budget of Development,” to the legislative council at the local government council chamber in Maiha, Hon. Idi said when granted legislative approval, it would ensure project and development at the grassroot level; taking dividends of democracy to the doorstep of the people of Maiha LGA.

The budget proposal covered renovation of classrooms, chairman’s and other houses, road rehabilitation, cemetery community dispensary and procurement of utility vehicle among other capital projects.

It is apparent that there is a synergy between the chairman and the council legislatures in Maiha LGA.

The council members, having commended the Chairman, assured that they would expedite action; revising, deliberating and eventually approving the presented budget.

Below are the full texts of the budget proposal as presented and the council’s response:

Budget Proposal For The Year 2020 Presented By The Executive Chairman Maiha Local Government Council On 7th July, 2020 At The Local Government Council Chamber

Protocol:

Today is a memorable day in the history of Maiha local government for granting me the opportunity to present this fiscal year 2020 budget proposal tagged “Budget of Developnent.”

It emanated from a dire need to provide development through developmental projects across the ten wards of the local government; projects that have direct bearing on the lives of people in the entire local government area.

Similarly, it is on record that the present global pandemic (covid-19) has affected the economy of the world; Nigeria inclusive, hence Maiha LGA.

Notwithstanding, the local government council is trying its best to ensure that the meagre resources from the federation account and the internally generated revenues are properly utilised in order to develop the local government area.

The ongoing projects in the local government include but not restricted to the following:

1. Rehabilitation of 108km road from Mayo-Nguli to Belel; covering many villages at N37,000,000.00

2. Renovation of three blocks of houses; the chairman, the secretary and Nyako quarters, at N12,000,000.00

3. Purchase of legislative bus at N5,500,000,00

4. Fencing of Pakka cemetery; burial site, at N4,900,000.00

5. Fencing of Vokuna cemetery, at N4,950,000.00

6. Landscaping of the local government secretariat at the cost of  N14,000,000.00

7. Renovation of three blocks of classrooms, an office and the construction of one block of community dispensary at the cost of N10,000,000.00.

It is on the strength of the above that I wish to present the total revenue projection and expenditure for the 2020 fiscal year.

Estimated Revenue:

1. Share from the federation account – N2,143,842,208.75
