The North East Online Network of Nigeria NEON; an association of online publishers in the northeast, has congratulated the newly executive members of the correspondents’ chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Adamawa state.

In a statement Monday, issued by the chairman, Adamu Muhammad Dodo, NEON while congratulating the new Exco, commended the maturity and the spirit of politics without bitterness exhibited by the congress members of the chapel in deciding the leadership through consensus.

NEON has called on the new Exco led by Comrade Daji Sani of Thisday newspaper, to rekindle the candle a reminiscent of those days when beggarly journalism was considered unprofessional and an injury to one, was without any air about hypocrisy, taken as an injury to all.

“To be able to succeed, you have to be in romance with the salient features of leadership; confidence, courage and fairness with transparency and integrity as the twin pillars.

“You have to take the path of professionalism and put away beggarly journalism defined as demeaning, integrity deafening and morale dampening; an anathema to journalism as an ideal not idle profession.

“We  hope that having a journalistic will, you will willingly lead, a review after the system study, of reportage with new accent redirecting reportage more to the human angle, developmental and investigative, with objectivity and balance in the spirit of fairness.

“We know this crop of leadership elected consensually, joins the “yes we can” philosophy as a guiding maxim.

“Accept the assurance of our highest support, cordiality and cooperation,” NEON chairman said.
