ADAMAWA: Police arrests two for raping minors

Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two rapists: Aminu and Abubakar for assaulting 9 and 15 years old minors in Jambutu, Yola North LGA.

The press release Sunday, issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Yahya Nguroje revealed that “Adamawa Police Command arrested one Aminu Abdullahi 19 years and Abubakar Haruna 32 years, residents of Yakore/Jambutu in Yola North local government area, for sexually assaulting 9 and 15 years old minors.”

The statement disclosed that the incidents occurred on July, 29, 2020 and July, 30, 2020 respectively.

Abdullahi 19 met his 9 years old victim at Jambutu Football field playing on Wednesday, where he took her into an uncompleted building to defile her.

Haruna 32, the statement revealed, invited his 15 years old neighbour with pretence to send her on errand on Thursday, honouring his call, he “forcefully raped her.

“The Police swung into action immediately by rushing the survivors to hospital to undergo medical screenings,” while the arrested rapists who were previously at large, having confessed to committing the crimes,  are taken into custody for investigation and prosecution.

“The commissioner of police Olugbenga Adeyanju, commends  members of the public especially, those that keyed into fight against Gender Base Violence and Sexual Assaults against women and children. He further advises parents and guardians to closely monitor their wards and avoid unnecessary contact with those of questionable characters.

“The command further assures its commitment to protecting lives and property and calls on people to continue reporting to police any suspicious movement around them.
