NAF To Build Air Base In Gombe

Nigerian Airforce would build another Air Base in Gombe state, northeast Nigeria.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar has said that plans and arrangements have been made by the Nigerian Air Force to set up a functional base in Gombe.

The Air Chief, Abubakar who was represented by Air Vice Marshal Idi Lubo, stated this on Tuesday when he led a team of officers on a courtesy call on Governor Yahaya Inuwa at the Gombe Government House.

Expressing his happiness, Governor Bello announced the allocation of 230 hectares of land close to the Gombe Airport. Space was also allocated to NAF in the airport.

The Air boss said the strategic location of Gombe as a gate way to the states in the Northeast region prompted the decision to establish a force operation base in the state.

“The Air Force operates from the sky and we can situate from anywhere. Gombe is a strategic state and the chief of air staff has noted this in deciding to situate one of our operational bases here.”

“NAF Operational Base in the state will ensure maximum security in the North-East region.”

Abubakar also commended the Governor of Gombe state, for his effort in ensuring peace in the state
