Monarchy In Maiha: The Post Impostor Conversation

The Periscope reporter

Jalingo-Maiha is thrown into conversation while at the peak of celebration in supplication and devotion to the Creator that has finally dealt with the impostor who hitherto got the backing, or so was conceived, of those who arrogated to themselves the position of the law, hence above the jury’s jurisdiction and adjudication after having previously witnessed an abdication of responsibility on the part of the previous state government; the abnegation of court order never to intimidate and/or frustrate those who have signed the treaty with justice and legitimacy in defence of the Monarchy in Jalingo-Maiha.

What made the theme and phronesis in the conversation was that an interim district head would be assigned to oversee the Monarchy in Jalingo-Maiha.

While some people were exited over the development; considering it as a prelude to the final end of the imposition and arrogant activities of an impostor, the sage and those around him, with social commentators and those who are conversant with the law, considered it another form of aberration; imposition after adjudication not to be adjourned or stay of execution.

The judgement passed by a Yola High court over two years ago did not only restrain the impostor – the third defendant – from parading himself as district head, it has also ordered the Adamawa State Governor to approve the appointment of Barr. Mahmud Abubakar Suleiman – the plaintiff – “as the proper person for appointment as the District Head of Jalingo-Maiha District, Maiha Local Government Area”.

It was a declarative judgement that did not beg for stay of execution pending the determination of court of appeal.

The court order in part, issued the following declarations:

“That the approval of the 3rd defendant by the Governor of Adamawa State as the District Head of Jalingo-Maiha District, Maiha Local Government Area, who was not the person recommended by the 2nd Defendant, is wrongful, illegal, null and void.

“That the plaintiff whose name was forwarded to the Governor of Adamawa State for approval by the 2nd Defendant, is the proper person to be approved for appointment as the District Head of Jalingo-Maiha District.

“It is hereby ordered that the Governor of Adamawa State (1st Defendant), should approve the plaintiff as the proper person for appointment as the District Head of Jalingo-Maiha District, Maiha Local Government Area.

“An order of perpetual injunction is hereby given, restraining the 3rd Defendant from parading himself as the District Head of Jalingo-Maiha District, Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa State.”

The conversation, having commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State for implementing a part of the court order; suspending Idi Usman Shehu from acting the impostor as district head, the people of Maiha and Mubi articulated that the Governor would be commended more if he honoured the other part of the court order that directed for the approval of the appointment of the plaintiff as the legitimate district head.

The district head of Jalingo-Maiha holds the title of Ubandoma Mubi, making reason for the celebration and conversation in both Maiha and Mubi.

“Couldn’t the posting of an interim district head pending the determination of the court of appeal, in a declarative judgement, amount to contempt of court order?” A sage would in more of an expostulation put.
