Adamawa Govt Introduces Monthly LG Stakeholders Meeting

The Periscope Reporter

Adamawa state government has introduced a monthly local government stakeholders meeting from January, 2020

This was contained in a communication of December 17, signed by the Chief of Staff to the Adamawa state governor, Prof. Maxwell M Gidado, SAN and made available to the Periscope.

“This is to notify all political appointees comprising of commissioners, advisers, senior special assistants, chairmen/members of boards and parastatals, chairmen and councillors of all local government authorities and development area administrators that His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has directed that you should endeavour to hold a stakeholders meeting every last Saturday of the month, beginning from January, 2021.

“You are hereby expected to report the outcome of the meetings to the office of His Excellency immediately after,” the notice read.

This is more or less introducing a town hall meeting where cross-fertilization of ideas will be conceptualised, community issues will be presented and recommendations submitted to the governor.

Commendable as the initiative is, the question that is remained to be asked is how many local government councils have town halls for such stakeholders meeting?
