The Nigerian Medical Association NMA, Bauchi State Chapter has comnended the Chief Medical Director, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital ATBUTH, Dr Yusuf Jibrin with his management team for the result oriented leadership.

The commended was made Wednesday during a courtesy call on the management of ATBUTH paid by the NMA state executive members led by the Vice chairman Dr Abdul-Rasheed B.Y.

Issues addressed were continuous training, specialisation in any chosen field of medical practice, research and publication in reputable journals and the need for doctors to refrain from opposing rural postings as these are areas where real undiluted cases could be found firsthand.

The CMD reiterated the fact that “nothing stops consultants from sparing at least a day or two, even for humanitarian reasons, to visit rural areas, to give helping hand to overstretched, scanty number of medics there”.

Jibrin advised the state chapter to try and have a memorandum of understanding with the state government on issues that could further improve healthcare in the state.

The CMD expressed optimism that if the state government could guarantee electricity, water, accommodation and security, it would serve as motivation of medical doctors to render services in rural areas.

Other NMA executive members at the courtesy call are; Dr Yakubu M.A the state chapter secretary, Dr Balogun Saheed Ademola assistant secretary and Dr A.T Suleiman PRO.
