Similarly we would also like to appreciate the important role played by the Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who in July 2019 led a delegation of prominent sons and daughters of the state including Dr. Ahmed Joda, past and serving lawmakers, traditional rulers and Management of the Institution on a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential villa to lobby for the conversion of the institution from a technology based University to a conventional one.

Our gratitude also goes to Senate President Ahmed Lawan for his untiring support to this cause and particularly, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed representing Adamawa Central Senatorial Zone, for sponsoring the bill for the conversion of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola to a conventional Institution, which also provides for the Federal Medical Centre Yola to become a teaching hospital and also in mobilising the support and backing of lawmakers, particularly those drawn from the North East.

Special thanks to all those who participated at the Senate public hearing for the bill; notably, Former Vice President and Waziri Adamawa, Atiku Abubakar, FCT Minister Muhammadu Musa Bello, Former Governor Boni Haruna, the Galadima Adamawa Alh Mustafa Aminu who represented the Lamido Adamawa, Executive Secretary and Directors of the National Universities Commission(NUC), Mr Paul Nubia (Ga’anda), Alh Dauda Birma of blessed memory, Prof Istifanus Zabadi (Yandang), Alh Dr Aliyu Idi Hong, Mr Hosea Ezekiel (Ga’anda), Barr Daniel Amos representing Mr Genesis Bitrus who spoke on behalf Higgi/Kamwe people.

This development is another milestone in the history of not just the Institution, the host community or Adamawa State but for the North East sub-region in general as it will liberalise and diversify the space giving impetus to the Institution to admit candidates for studies into arts and humanities, management and social sciences, law, pharmacy and other fields as well as expand the open and distance learning mode of studies.

These achievements are in tandem with the vision and mission of the Vice Chancellor Prof Abdullahi Liman Tukur in repositioning the Institution on the pedestal of attaining academic excellence in teaching, learning and research.
