Wife accuses pastor of reducing church to bordello, seeks for divorce

Pastor of Heavengate Bible Mission, Bachure, Yola North local government area, central senatorial district of Adamawa state, northeast Nigeria, Yakubu Kefas Ayuba was accused of reducing his church to bordello for his insatiable infidelity.

The News Platform online has reported that the accusation was made by the pastor’s wife seeking for divorce, Mrs Jummai Mala, who alleged that her husband has a bed in the church office, which he used to commit adultery.

Mala revealed that she personally caught her husband in the act right in the office.

Mala, seeking for the dissolution of the marriage, before the Upper Area Court III, sitting in Yola, presided by Honourable Umar Isa, pointed out that the pastor’s predator behaviour was such that she could not morally live with him as a wife.

Mala explained to the court that some of the pastor’s concubines have on several occasions confronted her, threatening to beat her.

Mala also complained that the pastor used to beat her whenever she failed to give him money to the extend of breaking her hand.

The aggrieved told the court her marriage with the pastor was contracted under the customary law and that they lived her family house but due to family challenges and frustration, she decided to build her own house where they eventually relocated with her husband.

Mala lamented that the pastor later abandoned her with the for children they were blessed with but paid them occasional visit only when he was broke or hungry.

Mala further told the court that he used to collect money from her as loan but he was never to pay back.

Responding, the pastor vehemently denied all the allegations.

The pastor has through his counsel, F. R. Baiyo, denied all the allegations. He also called three witnessed who testified in court and duly cross examined by counsel to the petitioner, J. J. Shalli.

The court has adjourned the matter to 10th March, 2021 for continuation of hearing.
