ADAMAWA: Police Pounce On Cameroonian Criminals Operating In Nigeria

Police operatives, codenamed “Operation Puff Adder II” in Adamawa state, northeast Nigeria and the Special Hunters of Pulaaku Association have pounced on suspected criminals from Cameroon Republic, operating in Nigeria after hitting what could be considered as international criminal hideout, located at Lamuda hill, Gumti National Park in Toungo local government area, southern senatorial district of the state.

Toungo is one of the local governments in Adamawa state sharing border with the Republic of Cameroon

The press release Sunday, issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sulaiman Yahaya Nguroje revealed that on Friday, March19, 2021, Adamawa state police command has disconnected the international criminal networks linking part of Cameroon Republic and Southern part of Adamawa state, Nigeria.

“The operation was successfully carried out by operatives of Toungo Police Division and the Special Hunters of Pulaaku Association at lamuda Hill situated at a remote side of Gumti national park, in Toungo local government.

The operation, the police explained, was as a result of the reported cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry and unlawful possession of firearms, amongst others, particularly pointing to the target area.

“A total of nine military camouflage uniform of Cameroon rebels, Cameroon national flag and Motorcycle among others were recovered from the hideout after subduing the criminals in a gun battle.

“The Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, while commending DPO Toungo with his men and the special hunters of Pulaaku association for the gallant performance, equally assured the people of Toungo local government and Adamawa as a whole of the command’s commitment to keeping the state safe,” Nguroje said.
