The Emir of Bichi, His Highness Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero has pledged to assist Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital AKTH with specialised equipment to enable them attend to patients with heart problem that required surgery.
This was disclosed when the Top Management Committee of the hospital and the Executive Members of Sahara Heart Foundation paid a courtesy visit to the Emir in his Palace.
The Emir said that his Council was aware of the problems face by AKTH considering the influx of patients from within and outside Kano state.
The Emir expressed concern on how patients with heart problem have to travel to Abuja or Lagos to get medication.
The Emir called on high net worth individuals and philanthropists to intervene in the hospital, assuring that the Emirate Council would assist the hospital as part of their obligations to the people.
Earlier, the Chief Medical Director, Prof Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe said that the Top Management Committee of hospital in collaboration with the executive members of Sahara Heart Foundation were in the palace to pay homage as well as brief the Emir on some of the challenges of the hospital, which included provision of specialized equipment for heart surgery, construction of an ultra modern Accident and Emergency complex, among others.
The Arewa youth groups have commended the Emir of Bichi for the concern he expressed in the healthcare facility, desirous of high-tech equipments for the benefit of the poor who could not afford medical tourism abroad or at least, the services of private hospitals within.
The youth groups have called on the high net worth individuals, technocrats, aristocrats, politicians and philanthropists to emulate the intended intervention of the monarch in uplifting healthcare services in AKTH.
