EASTER: Sen Abbo Enjoins Christians To Show Compassion, Hope And Tolerance Towards Fellow Citizens

Senator Ishaku Abbo of Adamawa North has urged Nigerians, especially Christians, to show compassion, hope and tolerance towards their fellow citizens as they celebrate Easter.

In a statement to newsmen in Abuja on the 2nd of April, 2021, Abbo through his media aide Michael V Bolgent said that Easter is one of the most significant events in the Christian calendar, as it commemorates Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death and resurrection and also serves as the foundation upon which Christian faith is built.

Despite ethnic and religious differences among Nigerians, the lawmaker encouraged citizens to tolerate one another.

Abbo admonished Adamawa Indigenes to Preach religious freedom, neighborly compassion, and a dedication to civic obligations while quoting Isaiah 53:4-5;

“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes, we are healed”.

“The remittance of his blood was the perfect specs for our cleansing”, he said.

According to the Senator, “It takes sacrifice, endurance, and hope to build a great country. This is particularly true in our case, where the challenge is complicated by the diversity of languages and faiths”.

“IT IS FINISHED”.
