The people of Jalingo-Maiha district thought that they would celebrate the Eid-El-Fitr; paying homage to their district head in his palace that remains vacant for over 7 years.
The Appeal Court determination over seven months ago, affirming the High Court judgement passed about three years ago, directed the Adamawa state governor to approve the appointment of Barr Mahmud Abubakar Sulaiman as the legitimate successor to the stool.
The Eid-El-Fitr was however celebrated without the the district head; meaning that his appointment was yet to be served.
The concerned youths of Jalingo-Maiha district suspected that the undue delay in the approval of the appointment is politically motivated and have therefore urged the indigens who want progress and development of Maiha local government in general, to continue with the Qunut prayers.
The closing ceremony of the tafsir, marking the end of fasting in the blessed month of Ramadhan for the year 2021 acknowledged the leadership qualities of the late district head and the blessings associated with it.
The mufassir solicited for prayers to neutralise hypocrisy, complicity, and conspiracy against the monarchy in Jalingo-Maiha.
Prayers were also offered for the entire monarchical family, from their root, as much as for the return of the stool the rightful heir.
In his remarks, the acting district head sermonised that God gives power and authority to, as much as He withdraws power and authority from whomsoever He wishes, explained as “Be and it is”.
The acting district head, having solicited for continued prayers for peace and protection of the district against all forms of hypocrisy, said that it was not the Emirate Council or anybody but God alone who granted him the opportunity to serve in the acting capacity as district head, adding that his mission was not to lead but to transfer power and authority to the God’s chosen whom the entire citizens must in unity give maximum support and cooperation.
