Police arrest 52, recover arms, ammunitions, repentants enjoy amnesty in Adamawa

Adamawa Police Command has arrested 52 suspects, alleged for committing different kinds of criminalities, which include kidnappings, armed robbery, rape and possession of illicit substances.

In a press briefing Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police Adamawa State, Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, disclosed that “in the raids carried out by Anti Kidnapping Unit, Anti Shila Squad, the State Intelligence Bureau of the Command, following the successful follow ups bothering on kidnappings, robbery and rapes, 52 suspects were arrested and 20 prohibited firearms with 1000 rounds of ammunitions, large quantity of hard drugs, a bag of weed, suspected to be Indian Hemp and rubber solution among over substances valued at N3 million naira were recovered”.

The CP revealed that, following the command’s aggressive raid, which was so suffocating to suspicious minded and those with criminal tendencies to operate, some hitherto notorious criminals have renounced their activities and have surrendered the dangerous weapons they used to operate with.

The repentant criminals are technically covered from being exposed and enjoy amnesty as they assist with valuable informations that led to further arrests.

The CP denied that there was cell break that led to the escape of about 40 suspects. “It was not a cell break but escape from lawful custody, which happened while officers were in the process of handing over duties.

“Out of the 40 suspects, 30 were arrested on the spot and from the 10 now at large, 3 were apprehended and with the collaboration with other agencies and groups, the remaining seven will not escape from being reiterated, this I can assure you, In Sha Allah”.
