Love for and respect and defending the integrity of Prophet Muhammad SAW a mercy unto mankind form the bedrock of faith.
This has made the background for the qutba, which reminded the ummah of the favour the Prophet SAW enjoyed from Allah SWT among hundreds of messengers and prophets. The favour, which extended to the Muslims as the best of mankind to command the doing of good and condemn bad deeds.
“Whether in death or alive, the position of the Prophet SAW before the Creator and the created is taken to be the same.”
The second article of faith for whoever would wish to die as Muslim “is the belief that Prophet Muhammad SAW is the Messenger of Allah SWT, after having been convinced to affirm to a belief that there is no deity worthy of being worshipped but Allah SWT.”
Among the favours of Allah SWT to the Prophet SAW, the qutba pointed out, was that Prophet Muhammad SAW was the prophet whose name was frequently mentioned everyday after Allah SWT either in salat prayers and/or supplications.
The sayings and actions of the Prophet SAW were but interpretations of the Noble Qur’an, miraculously revealed to the unlettered to teach people about the past, the present and the future, to serve as compass, a guide for acceptable conduct, both here and in the hereafter.
However, mentioning the name of the Prophet SAW in supplications would be insufficient if not insignificant without putting into practice the Prophet’s saying and actions:
“Doing what the faithful are commanded to do and staying away from the forbidden things.
“A good Muslim must be able to love the Prophet SAW more than the way he loves himself as much as he should teach and keep reminding his family members about Islamic history, prophetic stories contained in the Qur’an and the Hadith and the lives of the companions around the prophet among other teachings.
suffices to say that the love the faithful should have for the Prophet SAW, should not be a lip service thing. It must be complemented with action through knowledge acquisition.
