JabbiLamba – Belel Road In Sorry State, Maiha Community Calls for Self-help

Jabbi-Lamba to Belel is a federal government road that links three local government areas in Adamawa state, northeast Nigeria; namely, Girei, Fufore and Maiha. It also links the country with Cameroon Republic .

Some literatures revealed that the road was first constructed over three decades ago by the Aliyu Shehu Shagari led, second civilian administration in 1982.

The road has since been abandoned in spite of the community cries, receiving only but lullabies like mirage assurances, could be considered empty promises.

Buhari led government, she trusts more than the previous administrations, rekindled the hope of the decades old hapless community when in June 2020, the reconstruction of the road was duly and dutifully approved.

The hapless turned happy community however feared that it would be an arduous jittery journey through the valley of the hopeless hope that about eighteen months with the news, nothing could suggest the implementation of the approval of the road reconstruction.

Some of the worst hit communities in Maiha local government area; Magara of Tambajam and Maiha-Gari, under Mbilla district where potholes road causes discomfort, adds extra indescribable pains to the sick and is capable of instigating stillbirth have called for Self-help, mainly to partially sandfill the terrible potholes, making the road relatively motorable, now that the wet season is about being over.

“That’s the campaign before the federal government could get to fully implement the approval of the road reconstruction”, an elder could explain.
