Some people asked “why does Rt Hon Sadiq Ibrahim Dasin have so much interest in Hospital Paupers Fund Yola to want to mobilise funds for the activities of the initiative?”

Well, Rt Hon Dasin is one among the distinguished personalities that key into the initiative, joining friends of the “Hospital Paupers Fund, Yola” as a social responsibility.

Recall that the Waziri Adamawa, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar was among the first respondents to the call, he has in 2016 made the highest donation of N10 million. He donated another N10 million abou two years later, having satisfied with how the fund scheme is effectively and efficiently run.

Responding to newsmen on why the generosity; empowering the Hospital Paupers Fund Yola, when he visited FMC Yola about two years after the establishment of the fund scheme, the Waziri, to justify the confidence he has on the management of the fund scheme said:

“We established the Hospital Paupers Fund in FMC Yola to assist unconscious accident victims and indigent patients.

“I donated the sum of N10 million at the inception of the activities of the fund scheme.

“Having satisfied with the way and manner the fund is effectively and efficiently managed, I’m donating another N10 million”.

Waziri said the selection of the fund managers was simply brilliant, “They are men and women of integrity; some of them I know personally, we worked and are working together; some of them are our trusted with transparency children, for any given task.

Waziri called on the citizenry to key into the initiative as a social responsibility.

HE Dr Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo, the Secretary-General of OPEC and Walin Adamawa has also facilitated the donation of over N15 million to the fund scheme.

Lamido Adamawa along with other members of the Emirate Council have also donated over three million naira.

Joining the monarchical call, Gangwari Ganye donated N500,000 and Hamma Bata N50,000

Just last year, Abdullahi Ahmed, popularly known as Abdu Dollar, donated N2m, Northeast Development Commission, NEDC also donated N2m, among other donations.

Babachir donated N1m and others who would rather remain anonymous

Monthly donations are received from Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria, IMAN, FMC Yola N50,000 and the Christian Fellowship, FMC Yola, N30,000 respectively.

Members of the Hospital Paupers Fund Yola were inaugurated on October, 2015. However, footing the bills of the indigent patients was started in 2016 with 54 patients at the cost of N1,106,608.

Year 2017 had 165 patients with the treatment cost of N7.553,700.

Year 2018 had 219 patients with the treatment cost of N11,123.200

Year 2019 had 422 patients with the treatment cost of N23,351,000

Year 2020 had 254 patients with the treatment cost of N8,984.618

Year 2021;  From January to April has 87 patients with the treatment cost of N2,032,180

Suffices to say that N54,151,306 was spent on the treatment of 1,199 patients so far.

Four Lessons Learnt from Prof Jibrin Aminu is indeed the second time Rt Hon Dasin is using narrativisation initiative to raise funds for the Hospital Paupers Fund, Yola.

The first was in February, 2020, with the “Bayelsa Case,” where more than N800,000 was realised.

The initiative reported by the Periscope has it that:

“There is the part II, which is the final knowledge on the BAYELSA CASE, he would share on the condition that readers should donate minimum of N1,000 each into the Hospital Paupers Fund account with the Zenith Bank PLC he shared as a social responsibility:

Acct Name: Hospital Paupers’ Fund, Yola

HOW TO PAY FOR THE SECOND PART OF THE BAYELSA CASE BY PUTTING N1,000/ ONLY INTO THIS ACCOUNT:

There is an NGO called HOSPITAL PAUPERS FUND, YOLA that operates in Federal Medical Centre, Yola, established to solicit for funds to be able to pay for the treatment of indigent (poor) patients who are on admission in FMC Yola and could not continue paying for healthcare services rendered to them. Suffices to say that:

1. They have no money to afford a bed in the hospital;

2. They can not afford to continue paying for their treatment in the hospital, such as Surgeries, Investigations and Drugs among others

HOSPITAL PAUPERS FUND, FMC YOLA has limited funds that take care of these types of patients.

How it operates is that the case of a pauper will be reviewed by a Consultant and sent to the Head of Clinical Services in the FMC who will then direct the Social Welfare Unit of the hospital to verify the authenticity of the patient’s health condition and financial capacity, then forward same back to the Head of the Clinical Services who will then direct for waiver of fees for the patient; the hospital will then treat the patient free of charge.

The cost of the treatment will then be forwarded to the HOSPITAL PAUPERS FUND, YOLA and the fund will be credited directly into the account of the hospital.

Since we are now in TSA regime, money does not exchange hands.

FMC treats the indigent patient, the indigent patient and/or the hospital do(es) not receive any cash. Thus it engenders transparency, accountability and facilitates easy auditing of the paupers account.

The fund is managed by 18 trustworthy indigenes of Adamawa state and it is independent of FMC, Yola.

The 18 people are –
1. Alh. Abdullahi suleiman – former MD. Savanah sugar Company – Chairman whom we have lost some months ago.

As soon as I am informed that we have N1.0m in the account, I will post the second and final part of THE BAYELSA CASE.

Please donate or share wide, which may bring you blessings!”
