A Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Kano State Police Command has emerged overall winner in the first Kano Police Officers’ Qur’anic Recitation Competition, defeating 38 competitors.
The press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa revealed that the DPO, Takai Local Government Area of Kano state, SP Mahi Ahmad Ali the 60 Hifz (complete Qur’an) category.
The two-day Qur’anic recitation competition, which ended last Thursday has no fewer than 39 police officer participated, in which various categories of prizes were awarded to participants.
The competition was organised for police officers only, in the 2 Hifz 5 Hifz,10 Hifz,30 Hifz and for those in the 40 and 60 Hifz categories.
The competition was strictly for male participants. The Command has however hoped to modify the arrangement in future.
SP Mahi Ahmad Ali, the DPO who won the competition, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah, saying winning the competition was a privilege to him and he would pay more attention in the studies of the Holy Qur’an.
He said “my work as a police officer does not stop me from reading the Holy Qur’an”.
Kadif Abubakar Abdullahi Usman from the Police Academy Wudil, came second in the competition, in the 60 Hifz categories, while Inspector Ibrahim Abubakar of the Police Headquarters in Bompai, came third in the competition.

Hifz 20 Category:
1. Cadet Alhassan Musa – Nigeria Police Academy Wudil, Kano
2. DSP Najeeb Hashim – Zone 1 Headquarters, Kano
3. PC Isma’il Salisu – Command Headquarters, Hospital Bompai
Hifz 10 Category:
1. Cadet Hafiz Abubakar Gama – Nigeria Police Academy Wudil, Kano
2. DSP Ibrahim Jere – 2ic MTD Kano Command
3. Inspector Ramadan Aliyu – Command Headquarters Bompai Kano
Hifz 5 Category:
1. Cadet Buda Yahya – Nigeria Police Academy Wudil, Kano
2. Sergeant Sani Mustapha – Zone 1 Headquarters, Kano
3. PC Tasi’u Aliyu – State Headquarters, Hospital Bompai Kano
Hifz 2 Category:
1. Inspector Abubakar Sani Muhammad – Zone 1 Headquarters Kano
2. Cadet Abdullahi Yunusa Gambo – Nigeria Police Academy Wudil, Kano
3. Inspector Abubakar Muhammad – Market Division Kano.
