President Tinubu Says He’ll Treat His Opponents With Respect

…I will treat my opponents, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, as important compatriots – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu revealed that he would treat his opponents in the February 25 presidential election with respect.

Tinubu defeated Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) to emerge as president-elect.

He was officially sworn-in as Nigeria’s 16th president on Monday at the Eagle Square in Abuja amidst mammoth crowds of supporters and well-wishers from with and outside the country, cutting across faith and tribes.

Even though Atiku and Obi are still in court, where they are contesting the results of the election, Tinubu in his inaugural speech said, “My victory does not render me more Nigerian than the rest of you. It also does not render my opponents less Nigerian than me.

“I will treat my opponents, Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar, as important compatriots”.

A candidate flying political party flag doesn’t have to be loved by all but can be voted overwhelmingly.

The fact that a candidate is defeated in a particular constituency doesn’t mean that he hasn’t got supporters or scored any vote there. Will he turn against the constituency even though there are the aged and the underaged constituents who aren’t eligible to vote? It can only expose him as a weak leader lacking conscience.

The moment one is sworn in, he isn’t any longer a political party candidate but a chief executive or a representative for everybody and for nobody, unless otherwise he isn’t God’s choice.

This is for the vindictive minds to reflect.
