If there’s anything capable of heating the polity, causing religious tension in the state, it should be the uncontrolled unconscious faith based bias on the side of the state governor – Muslim community

The reaction to the allegation of Muslim marginalisation by Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state through the Commissioner of Information and Reorientation, Hon. Danjuma Adamu has further generated floodgates of reaction; while some of those loyal to the governor, however hypocritical, likened the lament to proverbial cry of wolves where none existed. the Muslim faithful in state, commended the leadership of the Muslim Council for their boldness, snubbing every form of executive intimidation and blackmail.
The Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, Danjuma standing for Darius, has during a press briefing held on Saturday at the Press Center in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital, described the allegation of marginalisation made by the Muslim Council as false, ridiculous and misleading, saying that “in fact, government views the action of the Muslim Council as a blatant attempt to cause religious and political tension in the state”.
Far from that, the call for attention was not with the intention to cause any tension. Governor Darius should have addressed the allegation rather than dismissing it with the new fangled, deceptive air akin to blackmail that betrayed defective reasoning, the Muslim community in Jalingo would point out.
“We thought that the governor would address the compelling issue; would deny the allegation that:
* Of the 12 Permanent Secretaries newly appointed by him, none is a Muslim; ‘unfairly alienating the very senior directors among the Muslim civil servants adjudged as genuinely if not super qualified for the positions’.
* Of the three arms of government in the state; the Head of Service, the SSG and the Chief of Staff, none is a Muslim.
* Of the state owned tertiary institutions and media houses, none is headed by a Muslim.
* Of the 25 state commissioners, only 7 are Muslims.
* Of the 221 Special Advisers, only 54 are Muslims.
* Of the 23 heads of boards and parastatals, only 5 are Muslims.
“If there’s anything is capable of heating the polity, causing religious tension in the state, it should be the uncontrolled unconscious faith based bias on the side of the state governor.
“The Hon Danjuma, rather than shielding the Ishaku shame, should have taken to admiring Adam articulating, creatively credible enough, admitting the degree of Darius-a-za-tion of Muslims in Taraba state; submitting to the realm of remorse by registering public apology, promising redress in tune with state character and composition,” the Muslims would say.
