2341 new intakes have been matriculated into various programmes in the Modibbo Adama University, MAU Yola Adamawa state, northeast Nigeria.
The ceremony, which took place Saturday, at the University Convocation Square was graced by parents, guardians and a host of others who came to witness the formal initiation of thier children and wards.
The Vice Chancellor MAU, Prof Abdullahi Liman Tukur in his speech, welcomed the students into the institution renowned for its scholarship and professionalism. He maintained that the matriculation provides an opportunity for the newly admitted students to be officially inducted into the university’s academically inspiring and socially exciting community.
Prof Tukur noted that the matriculation oath would oblige the students to be diligent in the pursuit of their studies, to seek knowledge and truth and to promote the general good of the university and humanity in tandem with its motto: knowledge and humanism.
Prof Tukur, while reminding them to commit to high discipline and be good ambassadors of the University, urged them to be conversant with the rules and regulations guiding their stay in the institution.
The acting Registrar, Mal Hamma Aminu administered the matriculation oath to the newly admitted students according to their various faculties.
Highlights of the ceremony include the presentation of awards by the Vice Chancellor to continuing students across all programmes of the University who have excelled academically in their studies.
