President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr. Mohammed Usman Degereji as the new Provost, Federal College of Education, FCE, Yola, Adamawa state.
The press statement signed by College Principal Information Officer, Malam Bashiru Abdullahi revealed that the appointment of Dr. Degereji was for an initial period of 4 years, with effect from 20th June, 2022.
“Prior to his appointment, Dr. Degereji had diligently served the institution in key strategic leadership positions, which include: Acting Deputy Provost, Dean of School of Science Education, Director and Head of Department.
“Dr. Muhammed Usman Degereji, a Chief Lecturer in the Physics Department, displayed his versatility as a leader by successfully serving as the pioneer Director of the College Centre of Excellence as well as the Science Research Centre of the institution.
“Until his appointment, Degereji served as the Coordinator of the World Bank/Adamawa State assisted programme for the provision of education for the Out of School Children under the auspices of Better Education Service Delivery for All.
“He was awarded a Bachelor of Science (Physics) from the University of Maiduguri and Masters degree in Engineering on Electrical Power System from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.
“The new Provost holds a Doctorate degree from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom with specialization in Energy Physics. (BESDA).
“Dr. Degereji is a member of several national and international professional bodies, namely, NIM, WEC, IOP, NIO to mention a few.
“The Provost is happily married with children, the statement said,” the statement reads.
