…As communities call for Binani’s intervention
Some members of the communities affected by flood disaster in the southern senatorial district of Adamawa state have called on the distinguished Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani to come to their aid by providing some succour.
The APC governorship candidate President Muhammadu Buhari described as the “Governor-in-Waiting, Binani is known for providing relief materials by means of disaster management among other interventions to the affected communities.
Binani, even though represents the central senatorial district of the state, her interventions cut across the entire state.
Whilst the communities seek for the Binani succour, the members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly have passed resolutions mandating the Adamawa state government and council chairmen of Shelleng, Guyuk, Numan, Demsa, and Lamurde all in the southern senatorial district, to provide emergency relief materials to the flood survivors.
The House also directed its relevant standing committees to liaise with state ministries of environment, water resources, agriculture and federal government to provide lasting solutions to the issue of floods across the state.
The House resolutions followed a matter of urgent public importance raised by the member representing Shelleng, Hon. Abubakar Isa, on the recent flood disaster that destroyed houses, farmlands, food items and livestock, among other valuables.
Isa listed some of the major causes of flood to include the overflowing of river Gongola, Daɗin Kowa Dam, Kiri Dam and the collapse of the river embankments in Shelleng.
The lawmaker prayed the House to pass resolutions mandating relevant authorities to provide the survivors with emergency assistance, especially building materials, food items, and beddings, in addition to relocating some of the survivors to safer sites and reconstruct river Gongola embankments in the Shelleng constituency.
The lawmakers expressed concern over the building of houses, shops and filling stations on waterways, especially around the Chochi irrigation site along Yola road.
