…One Petroleum Fuel Station, N600 Per Litre Selling Price
… Cost of living cheaper in Michika than Madagali; a Satchel Of Maggi cubes is sold in Madagali doubled the amount obtained in Michika
Madagali, the headquarters of Madagali local government area, northern senatorial district of Adamawa state, previously occupied by the insurgency, incidentally the local government area of the sitting governor is the economically worst hit state.
This is the finding following the Binani Tsunami governorship campaign where the constituents waited patiently from morning till midnight to lament.
The electorates, having commended Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani for her agricultural incentives and financial empowerment in the area, noting that while the Adamawa state government sold fertilizer at exorbitant amount beyond the market prices yet in the name of subsidy, Binani’s fertilizer to the poor farmers across the state were distributed free devoid of any barrier identified either based on political party support, gender, tribe, region or religion, pleaded with the amazing amazon, the Governor-In-Waiting that after the swearing in, in God’s name, she should declare an economic emergency to the local government, they considered as being ostracised from the state structure, the same way Maiha local government lamented.
The case of Madagali is entirely different, akin to what can be conceived as economic sabotage or organised conspiracy with impunity against the citizenry, based on the pathetic revelations.
“Your Excellency, you’ve passed through the rough and tough road leading to our town, we need not describe the challenge, we plead you are to address.
“Your Excellency, it is painful to lament that there’s only one petroleum fuel station in the whole of Madagali and the pump price is far beyond the common black market. It is selling at N600 per litre. We plead that you look into the matter, since the son of the soil couldn’t go beyond the best he could as a governor, which however is unsatisfactory, far below the succour to the citizenry against perceived extortion, exploitation, oppression, hard heartedness and all that is tied to economic sabotage, resulting from inhumanity.
“Your Excellency, we need more than one petroleum products station in Madagali to bring an end to the monopoly that resulted in the lone fuel station operating beyond any black market in the country, so that prices of food commodities can be reduced as obtained in the neighbouring local government areas.
“For instance, your Excellency, a satchel of Maggi Cubes is sold at double the price obtained in Michika local government area,” the electorates lament.
The APC governorship candidate, visibly touched by the pathetic revelation, promised to work on providing a lasting solution to such untold hardship in addition to initiating grassroots empowerment programmes when elected.
Binani however urged the electorates to vote not just her but along with the entire APC candidates because she as a governor could not work effectively alone.
The questions in the minds of the visitors are that how come Madagali has just one petroleum fuel station? Why is it sold at N600 per litre? Are the government and regulatory bodies aware of this? Has it ever been reported but ignored?
Isn’t the government aware of the alleged food commodity racketeering that reduces the residents of Madagali to economic hardship, having survived the challenges associated with insurgency?
“Madagali indeed needs the Binani compassionate spirit, defining good governance. We’re indeed in tune with the Sai Matan Nan for governor,” the electorates say.
