…Reflecting not deflecting Sir-Joh’s Diary…
The Periscope Global
It is natural, for every serious organisation, educational, administrative, public, private, business or political, to run a debrief on any programme or activity so organised; A kind of checklist, assessing whether or not the mission is accomplished; identifying areas of strengths to maintain and weaknesses to improve upon.
The APC governorship candidate in Adamawa state, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani, more than any other governorship candidate in the state, has made resounding campaign rallies, in the faces of antagonism, she remained courageously victorious, which attracted for her an overwhelming generic supporters, even where it was least expected, recording grade expectations; rather than rent crowds, she received gifts from the electorates. The sentiments obnoxiously credited to her, were brushed, crumbled dust or as political pundits would put, “dead on arrival” against the rival’s expectations.
Everyone, everywhere was “Sai Matan Nan,” “Sai Binani,” nothing hauling or pelting the protest-stone, garnished with the boo booed “Ba Ma Yi” visited on campaigns other than hers, as was reported, was ever recorded as evidenced by the video clips and objective news reportage, indicative of the fact that the amazing amazon understands the power and influence of the media, the press, hence has utilised the institution to the fullest.
Some professionals with the state’s owned media, ABC and ATV would wish that Binani were the State Governor, how the ignored public media would have been revolutionised to be in tune with modern times, rather than remains as it is, a mere Prof Abubakar Abba Tahir’s decades of decadent slogans, with the decay, rather than technology excellence the state broadcasting station ought to be enjoying.
“Hope,” the professional media practitioners with the state public media would project, “is not lost,” they would add “at all,” while analising the campaign rallies vis-à-vis the words of noble monarchs that stand, in the opinion of the Ironists, as the impressive final vocabulary, joined by President Muhammadu Buhari’s projection, where he addressed the amazing amazon as the Governor-In-Waiting; the undoubted words of wisdom, which in God’s name, shall come to pass, redefining the occupancy of the Dougirei Hill.
There was actually the Binani campaign media debrief, on Saturday, anchored by Honourable Maulud Usman, commendations were made, observations in contributed comments were considered and recommendations were offered. It is however, entirely an in-house thing rather than for public consumption.
Honourable Comrade Ahmed Sajoh has simplified the situation by analising the the video clips of what made the Tsunami in Binani Campaign Rallies; night and day, enduring the scorching sun, defeating the dusty breeze, happily and peacefully across the state, neutralising the so accused sentiments, lacking evidence, associated with the activities that the no professional commissioned schemers failed to be persuasive, rather than presenting what is not even fit to be considered as a mere academic exercises, which reduced the over-ambitious-intellectual-fame-to-shame.
Sajoh, the Periscope Global column referred to as Sir-Joh – moralising Comrade Shehu Aliyu, the original source of the coinage – writes thus:
“While looking at the videos of the campaign, I was looking for anything that can be of value in making rational judgement on the Binani phenomenon. I saw plenty of them:
…The courage of the woman is legendary.
…The commitment of the party leadership despite the initial misgivings was exceptional.
…The patience and support of the electorate was genuine.
…The emotional display by the crowd was beyond the ordinary.
…In many places the campaign train arrived late at night, but the people waited. That is not the characteristics of an induced or a rented crowd.
Rented crowds are for a period. They don’t wait beyond the period in their contracts.
…I saw women who wore “aso ebi” not known to the candidate or party leadership.
…Men, women and youth came out in large numbers in support of the new political mantra which is “the Sai Matannan” phenomenon.
….As for the Amazing Amazon, you could clearly see the drive, the energy, the focus and most importantly, the intellectual capacity.
…She spoke with clarity. She spoke with commitment. She spoke with the conviction of someone on a journey to succeed and deploy the success for the benefit of all the citizens without any let or hindrance.
…I checked for the slip purportedly reported from Fufore it wasn’t there.
…I checked for other slips from her or from the campaign, I did not see any.
…I checked for inconsistencies, there were none.
… The campaign was generally guided by the Almighty Himself.
…No slips in statements. No mishaps on the trips. No violence to mar the process. It was all mercifully guided by God.
…Win or lose it was a good campaign.
…One amazing thing I noticed was that all the fatigue of the tedious journey instantly melted away, once the venue was reached.
…Everyone spoke measuredly. No anger. No shaky voices. And no false promises. It was indeed amazing and phenomenal.
Talking about the merciful hand of God:
…I just stumbled on the slip by a supposed Student Union leader speaking at the rally of an opposition candidate in Mubi. He inadvertently said “Governor Binani” at the rally.
…It was a pardonable error. In this era of political anxiety and frustrating existence such errors are bound to be made.
…But two things surprised me as I believe they will surprise anyone who watched the video closely.
…One was that the crowd did not just laugh off the error but they applauded the mistake, with one fellow standing right there on the podium clapping for what was supposed to be a costly mistake for his party and candidate. Was that ” the proverbial hand of God?”
…Secondly, you could hear others loudly saying ” ai dan damparane” meaning the guy was a fraudster.
Does that not prove that he was hired?
How could a hired hand be engaged to speak at a rally organized to drum up support for a serious candidate?”
