There were indeed two declarations of the Governor Elect by INEC in Adamawa state; the REC Ari Binani declaration, termed as the most genuine in the presence of the Commissioner of Police and political parties returning officers and the Festus Okoye witnessed Fintiri declarations,.
The declaration of the APC candidate, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani as the returned elected governor was peacefully celebrated with supplication in consonant with the blessed month of Ramadan where the Ummah entity is refrained from feeling evil, seeing evil, doing evil and talking evil. No intimidation, no harassment, no violence because there was the consideration that power belongs to God, given to whomever He wishes as much as taken from whomever He wishes.
The declaration Tuesday, of the PDP candidate, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as being reelected was by supporters celebrated with intimidating violence, molestation, harassment and street scare among other threats to security in some parts of Jimeta and outskirts of the ancient city.
The jubilation almost reduced to ethnoreligious diatribe against Binani and Muslims that the celebrant should in the spirit of mutual coexistence have to address rather squarely.
The violent jubilants on the street ought to know that some elite Fulani and Muslims are for the most part, those in the struggle against their sister to bring back Fintiri whom juvinile jubilants considered was not the candidate for the Muslims even though a Muslim.
Umar, the Vanguard correspondent in Adamawa would have to yell out “4 + 4” to be able to rescue his windscreen from being smashed while driving back home.
Abubakar Daware, a resident of Wuro-Chekke would have to change his path from Dandu area to escape molestation as the jubilants were ruled by emotion, chanting “Gomnatin Kabilu ne ba Fulani da Musulmi ba”.
“FINTIRI NAMU NE, KO KUN KI KO KUN SO SHINE GOMNA” meaning, Fintiri is our own, whether or not you like it he’s the Governor, they would recount, oozing out other disgusting diatribe against Binani, not to be repeated here.
The point however is that it is, until it is finally over, genuine to be sworn in governor isn’t yet given. It is therefore too early for jubilation as much as printing congratulatory messages.
Adamawa state is the land of beauty. The citizenry, like the scenery, is beautiful, peace loving and accommodating. Fintiri himself has repeatedly warned that no candidate is worth shedding the blood of the electorate, to support. The jubilant would therefore need to be enlightened.
