The Periscope Literati
It is said that picture speaks, taken to literary appreciation, it is considered as a symbol, reflecting, signifying, depicting, presenting and/or representing a given reality, it is referred to as metaphor. The semantic and semiotic theorists would sign if not sing it as a “science of signs.”
It was Prof Terence Hawkes who in his text, “Structuralism and Semiotics” would articulate that humankind lives in a world of signs and of signs about signs. A growing awareness of this situation has involved modern man in a momentous change of perspective, which has gradually forced him to accept that in such a world, reality inheres not in things themselves but in the relationships we discern between things; not in items, but in structures.
“As a result, the ways of thinking and methods of analysis involved in the disciplines loosely termed ‘structuralism’ and ‘semiotics’ have become central to an understanding of that reality”.
So the pictures speak, relate, reveal and/or send message as that of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Adamawa state, most Distinguished Senator Aishatu Ahmed Dahiru, a.k.a Binani, whom President Muhammadu Buhari referred to as the Governor-In-Waiting, the positive hopeful would say the Governor Elect in company of some of the members of her campaign team and the no hypothetically backsliding, no-anti-party-ing victory-parting APC stakeholders visited the Vice President-Elect, Senator Kashim Shettima, who at the moment, the north looks up to, to be relied in leadership or as Mahmud Jega would opined, would wear the Sardauna shoes.
Shettima, a distinguished gentleman of justice would not let any stolen mandate permeate the north without redress as much as he would join in addressing the Adamawa governorship scandal, to ensure that victory is not truncated and the victor, even if political heroine is not shortchanged.
In great expectation, comes a possibility, a succour kind of, from an unlikely source. Where brothers out of jealousy would join in throwing their own to rot in the well, a saviour to the survivor his Maker sends to fetch him out to quench the thirst and as a source of hope in salvation so salivated.
The political heroine, the compassionate, courageous, confident, competent, able, capable and with the capacity, otherwise known as the amazing amazon, as the pictures speak, is accompanied by her Campaign Director General Senator Hassan Ahmer Barata, Engr Ismaila Numan, Chief Sylvester Sunny Moniedafe Jagaban Jimeta, Prof Umar Buba Bindir, Engr Aishatu Adamu, and Bashiru Yola.
The pictures indeed sign and sing victory as a surety, slowly and surely.
