INEC’s Prayer Monday, through the Counsel, Rotimi Jacobs Esq, to serve a warrant of arrest against the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, for Adamawa state, Hudu Yunusa Ari, Esq, mni, was not granted by a Yola High Court, based on the pending application for injunction restraining his prosecution, issued by the apex court; adding that, as it is, it is the Nigeria police, not the court that has authority over Hudu’s arrest.
INEC has filed a six-count charges against Hudu at the Adamawa State High Court sitting in Yola. Hudu could not appear in any of the hearing due to the court injunctions restraining the prosecution for which the INEC insisted Hudu must be brought before the law for declaring the APC governorship candidate in Adamawa, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a k.a Binani as the winner of the 2023 governorship election in the state,following sharp practices he recorded which contravened due electoral process aimed at results alterations.
INEC said it would forward a formal request before the court to have Hudu arrested. The hearing is adjourned to November 22, 2023.
