The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja Tuesday reserved judgment in the appeal by the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Adamawa state, Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, a.k.a Binani challenging the victory of RT Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, a.k.a Fresh Air.
Binani is seeking to upturn the decision of the Yola Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in favour of the second INEC’s declaration of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, as the winner of the governorship election.
Recall that Binani was first declared by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC Hudu Yunusa Ari, as the winner of the governorship election, following what he observed as a compromise by electoral officers in fhe conspiracy to shortchange the political heroine, thereby demeaning democracy that has given all genders the rights to vote and to be voted for.
Factored in the case as defenders with INEC in the suit are the declared governor and the PDP.
Submissions of both parties were admitted and date for judgment would be communicated to both parties.
Those present at the tribunal In addition to Counsel to Binani were Hon Titsi Ganama the governorship running mate, Professor Ahmed Modibbo, Senator Ahmed Barata, Alh Umar Mustapha Madawaki, a.k.a Otunba of Ekiti, Yahaya Vice and Aminu Iyawa among others.
The state attorney general was also among those present on the side of the PDP governorship candidate with the Counsel.
